The week in pictures

On Tuesday I babysat my nephew and introduced him to Star Wars. This was us walking back home. At one point we passed a much older kid who was transfixed by the X-WIng Hugo was holding. And then Hugo said, “I think that boy liked my spaceship!”

ImageWe inherited automatic gates from the previous owners. They are fantastic — except when they get out of alignment and need to be fixed. Ugh.

Then on Thursday we went and saw the new Batman (which I thought was pretty good) and had mexican on the way. Dee loves her Pacifico.

I had friday off so I went to Nundah to do laps at the crit track:

Then I went to New Farm to pick up a new present for the house. Above is BEFORE. Below is AFTER:

Dee doesn’t look impressed but she actually was pretty cool with the new shade. It was my mum’s suggestion and it only cost $90 which is a bargain cause I think it looks fantastic and really balances the room.

In the process I managed to smash two light bulbs. Ugh.

The light-bulb is a bit too “white” for my liking so that will change to a warmer tone eventually.

On Saturday I walked to the city to pick up some much-needed new shoes and then I continued on to Greenslopes for Jeffro’s 40th. It was about 10ks/2 hours of walking — but I am a bit mad. When I finally arrived, feet killing, the beer tasted AMAZING!

I loved this red shade!

Saturday night we went to Bec’s housewarming. It was a strange house and there was this weird room with a very low ceiling and a wall (behind, at right) made out of whiteboard material. Bizarre! I do like rooms where you can touch the ceiling. As I was growing up and getting taller I was obsessed with striving to jump up and touch the ceiling.

The western freeway has this bench which I like to have a rest at. It has a water fountain and is usually deserted and quite peaceful. And this is a timer-shot self portrait. I don’t know how I managed such a good photo.

At Bec’s party we saw her digital piano and when she told us how cheap it was, I was like, “MUST GET ONE!” And Dee and I have been talking for ages about getting a piano so BANG! We bought this bad-boy this afternoon. It has weighted keys and is pretty nice-looking (ie no LCD screen) and sounds fantastically natural. I can play guitar and drums but I have always wanted to play the piano too — mostly just so I can play “Hey Jude” one day. I have also written a new song which I think could sound much better on piano. So here’s my chance.
